"How much do you charge"??
My puppies usually average 1200.00
"why so much"?
because of the amount of time and money that I put into health testing and maintaining quality Boston’s that look like Boston’s and not boxers or pit bulls (as you see so much nowadays).
"what is included in the price"?
My puppies come with dewclaws removed, vet checked with shots appropriate to age, wormed, parasite free( fleas, worms, ear mite etc). a health guarantee, A.K.C. registered, and micro chipped. I honestly do not make a bit of money off of my dogs that doesn't go right back into their training, healthcare, Exhibition at shows, and general upkeep. In fact I spend much more every year on my animals then I bring in from puppies.
"Why did you decide to breed"?
I am interested in maintaining the Boston terrier as it was intended to be, according to the Boston terrier standard as set by the Boston terrier club of America, and A.K.C.
Without breeders who are committed to a breed of dog, breed characterics and temperament are compromised. I love this breed and I want it to remain what it was meant to be.
"Do you ever get "rare" Boston’s or Boston’s with blue eyes?
If I did breed an "off" color or blue eyes, I would place the animal in a home free of charge with a spay/neuter agreement. I do not intend to breed these colors. I breed for brindle, black, or true seal colors, as set in the Boston terrier standard. I would not cull the animal or love it any less, but these are not traits that I want to put into the gene pool, for many reasons.
"How many puppies do you have"?
I usually have 1 to two litters a year. Pets are the same price as show potential, the difference is the contract. Pets go on a spay/neuter contract. This is to prevent unwanted litters of mixed breed dogs, and also helps to prevent one of my spoiled babies falling into the hands of a mass breeding facility (aka. "puppy mill").
"how do you decide which puppy goes to what family"?
I will be familiar with each puppy's individual personality, so I can help to match puppies with new owners. Some new families know what they are looking for, and if this is the case I can assist by pointing out each puppy's temperament. I spend many hours playing with and socializing my fur kids.
How do we know that we are getting a good quality animal"?
I can give vet and personal references if you would like.
"Why is your kennel name Kayas"?
If you are wondering about the kennel name it is a bit of play on words. Pronounced "chaos" as a reference to the mayhem that goes on here, it is a combination of my daughter's names and my own name "Kayley (KAY), Ariel(A), and Adrienne'(S)...and besides, it just seemed to fit.
"What activities do you participate in with your dogs"?
conformation, rally, cgc (canine good citizen), tdi (therapy dogs international), basic obedience, general socialization at public places, couch cuddling, and spoiling to an embarrassing level....and yes, I dress them up too!!!
